Founder, Jeyie Foods
Jacqueline Joyreen Banda is the founder and managing director of Jeyie Foods, a social enterprise committed to revolutionizing nutrition and well-being within Chinama Village in Mangochi, Malawi, and far beyond. Established in 2020, Jeyie Foods was born out of her personal experiences and deep-rooted dedication to social entrepreneurship, with a mission to address critical issues such as food security, malnutrition, and economic empowerment.
Under her leadership, Jeyie Foods has launched impactful programs that directly benefit marginalized communities. These initiatives include training underprivileged children and their caregivers in the production of nutritious food, empowering local women and youth farmers, and advocating for sustainable agricultural practices. Her holistic approach provides comprehensive solutions to complex nutritional and socio-economic challenges.
Her journey was inspired by a personal experience helping her malnourished cousin recover through homemade peanut butter. This moment revealed the widespread issue of malnutrition in local communities, leading to the founding of the Jeyie Foods Community Project. Through this initiative, she collaborates closely with women to produce nutrient-rich foods that save lives and improve health outcomes for malnourished children.
As a Mandela Washington Fellow and alumna of the Leading African Women in Food program, she leverages her platforms to promote sustainable development and inspire collective action against malnutrition. With a vision of a world where everyone has access to nutritious food and opportunities for a healthy life, she continues to push boundaries, foster partnerships, and drive meaningful change in the field of nutrition and health.
