Consumer Advocacy for Food Safety and Nutrition Initiative (CAFSANI), is an established NGO having its headquarters in Lagos Nigeria, with CAC registration number IT/NO137756, and committed trustees of proven integrity and objectives that align with our goals in the areas of food safety, nutrition and consumer protection. Our organization, CAFSANI, has been established specifically to serve as an advocacy platform in Nigeria and beyond as may be necessary, to inform, protect, educate and promote consumer interests against the increasing incidences of sharp and unwholesome practices in the area of food safety and nutrition in our quest for national food security. We seek to change the narrative by bridging this gap and strengthening consumer ownership and sustainability of the drive for good nutrition up to community levels. This of course requires advocacy activities and partnership with governments at all levels to ensure not just the buy-in but the necessary support and investments for continuity. We also recognize that probably more than ever before, the increased focus on the development of our food value chains will strongly promote a better food system for the benefit of both producers and consumers. Our Vision To be the first choice for consumer advocacy solutions in Food Safety and Nutrition issues in Nigeria. Our Mission To promote consumer awareness and assist consumer-associated agencies in protecting consumer rights to safe and nutritious foods for their wellbeing. What We Do: We work closely with food businesses, government and regulatory agencies to assess nutrition and food safety issues, and serve as an advocacy platform in Nigeria and beyond as may be necessary. Our role is to inform, protect, educate and promote consumer interests against the increasing incidences of sharp and unwholesome practices in the area of food safety and nutrition. Our Solutions: We offer tailored solutions and services to consumers and the general public. Some of the solutions and services we offer are as follows: ⦁ We provide the right platforms for promoting scientifically proven best practices in food safety in the areas of food hygiene, sanitation, food handling and safe storage. ⦁ We promote consumer education and awareness on access to safe and nutritious foods through advocacy and enlightenment of the general public, on unscientific myths in circulation and improper and wrong use of agrochemicals. ⦁ We provide research support to regulators in promoting and safeguarding consumers against false product claims and in ensuring and optimizing nutrient quality, availability, affordability, convenience and communication to the public. ⦁ We partner with institutions, policy makers and regulators on public awareness campaigns that will promote better compliance with the mandatory national food fortification program and other such initiatives in Nigeria for the benefit of consumers. ⦁ We promote the use of innovation and technology for driving consumer awareness and access to cheap, affordable and more nutritious foods.
