Good day SMEDAN TEAM. I am Shafi’u Yahaya Moriki, the founder and CEO of Jikanidi Local Poultry, located in Moriki, Zamfara State. At our farm, we specialize in rearing indigenous chicken breeds that are not only resilient but also provide fresh, healthy, and high-quality meat for both local and urban consumers Our mission is to promote local food security and empower our rural economy by creating sustainable poultry farming. We produce organic, chemical-free chicken using natural feed and traditional rearing methods, which are safer and healthier. We are proud to say that we are not just farmers—we are contributors to Nigeria’s food system. However, as a small-scale entrepreneur, face two major challenges: i.Lack of capital – This limits our ability to expand, improve infrastructure, and access modern equipment. ii Climate change– Rising temperatures and unpredictable weather.
