African Food Changemakers
Summary:
We are looking for a program officer to support the planning and implementation of the 25 Leading women in Food and Agriculture Fellowship program, an ambitious fellowship aimed at supporting 25 Changemakers noted to have made outstanding contributions/impact in their specific areas across the African food ecosystem. The 25 Leading Women Award initiative will amplify, celebrate, champion and advance the work of 25 African women SMEs in the agribusiness landscape through recognition and access to critical resources. This initiative will equip these women with the resources to turn their pipeline ideas into launched projects via a hybrid awards program.
Description:
- Support the development of actionable workplans towards the strategic implementation of the project
- As required, collaborate with management to ensure compliance to workplan and project objectives
- Work with the Membership team to call for and collate nominations of potential awardees and ensure a smooth and seamless nomination process
- Support the process of selection and orientation of the program judges.
- Coordinate communication and orientation of judges, support staff, vendors and more to support the award events.
- Support the communications team in developing and implementing a communications strategy designed to further project objectives
- Attend meetings with funders and provide timely updates
- Monitor and report on progress with project deliverables
- Stay up to date on progress of awardees post-award, monitor indicators of agribusiness scale up and make recommendations to funders regarding opportunities for continued support in the future
- Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners that would help increase visibility for the organization and respond to media inquiries
- Support the planning of conferences, workshops, awardees speaking engagements and other promotional events to help increase awardees’ visibility and recognition on global platforms
- Regular outreach to press outlets, magazines, influencers and build strategic partnerships to improve awardee and organization brand recognition.
- Support the development of regular and timely reports on project outcomes/deliverables
- Research, identify and analyze opportunities for awardees and the organization.
- Foster peer-to-peer learning and mentoring-support through conference calls, newsletters, and facilitation of conferences/workshops.
- Establish and maintain regular communication with project partners and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with project managers to support business scale up of successful fellows
- Other duties as assigned by management
Desired Skills:
- Minimum BSc or BA degree
- Strict attention to detail.
- Demonstrated strength in program development and implementation
- Results oriented
- Capacity for independent thinking and ability to work with minimum supervision
