JUA Technologies International
JUA Technologies International (JTI) provides energy efficient multipurpose solar food dehydrators designed for small growers. It was founded in 2016 by Drs. Klein and Reiko Ileleji, and affiliated to Purdue Foundry. JTI launched its first product to the market, the solar dehydration tray-DEHYTRAYTM in Q4 of 2018. Its multipurpose solar dehydrator/power generator-DEHYMELEONTM is under development with funding from the USDA-SBIR Phase I program. JTI has exclusive license to commercialize these two award-winning multipurpose solar crop dryers developed at Purdue University, and trademarked by the USPTO as the DEHYTRAYTM and DEHYMELEONTM. The DEHYMELEONTM was placed fifth in technology innovations at the 2017 First All African Post-Harvest Conference and Exhibition held in Nairobi, Kenya, while the DEHYTRAYTM won two prestigious awards in 2019 – the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering AE50 Innovation Awards, and was named a finalist in the food category of Fast Company 2019 World Changing Ideas. The DEHYTRAYTM has already been shipped to four continents and a distributorship established in Kenya. It short term plan is to establish a subsidiary JUA Technologies East Africa in Kenya.
