AgriSupport Africa
I am Nduta Ng’ang’a. A farmer and an Agvocate in Kenya. I am running an organization that encourages youths of Africa to go agribusiness. We call ourselves AgriSupport Africa. Our slogan is “Feed People, Fill Pocket”. We are in the process of registering the organization as a limited company by guarantee. The organization was formed upon realization that there are very high levels of unemployment in Africa and Kenya specifically. Every day we release graduates and what we don’t tell them is that the government doesn’t have their jobs thus the need to think in the line of going business. Africa is blessed with beautiful lands, fertile soils and amazing climate. Therefore, the only resource that we can fully utilize is land. The average age of an African farmer is 55 years. Young people don’t like involving themselves in farming. This is because of the perception that farming is “low class”. This means that in the near future, we shall have a food crisis in Africa. Our organization is therefore working towards changing such perceptions. We are in the frontline of encouraging young people to farm because agriculture pays. Being educated means they can also come up with modern technology. They are therefore able to create employment not only for themselves but others. Every human being needs a farmer at least thrice a day. We there are working towards creating employment, ensuring food security and most importantly, achieving the Second Sustainable Development Goal that is Zero Hunger. I hold a Masters Degree in Project Planning and Management of the University of Nairobi and a Bachelors Degree In Industrial and Organizational Psychology of Makerere University, Uganda.
