Savanna Logistics
Savanna focuses on Transportation & logistics / Technology & Innovation / On-Farm Production / Climate Change / Packaging Savanna Logistics is a vertically-integrated smallholder farm-to-fork agricultural value-chain that is focused on community development, transparency and equity; an ecosystem where both consumers and smallholder farmers are served by supply-chain intermediaries; a transportation & logistics network that drastically reduces post harvest loss and transports produce through the value-chain efficiently within an as-a-service model; an integrated digital platform that provides smallholder farmers with unique immutable digital identities, truth of assets and sales. Consumers will have mobile e-commerce access to online ordering of fresh African crops for next-day delivery and a digital relationship with the smallholder farmers who grew their food. The current food supply chain is controlled by collectors, aggregators, wholesalers and mass-market vendors. Smallholder farmers are at the mercy of collectors that dictate predatory pricing and perpetuate farmer anonymity. Consumers, like their sister farmers are also at the mercy of intermediaries who provide no transparency into quality, variety and the origin or authenticity of farmer produce. The Savanna ecosystem supports short regional supply chains substantially reducing the distribution and sale of poor quality and often fraudulent imported food; provides real-time transparent data captured on immutable blockchain registers; incentivizes financial institutions to invest directly into smallholder farmers in a risk reduced environment and kickstarts marginal farms to be stewards of agroecological spaces with direct investment in innovative soil rehabilitation and irrigation technology, tools, IoT remote data collection and capacity building. Savanna actions are aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) with a focus on Goal 5 - Gender Equality Savanna Project Proposal is available upon request.
