Lake Oko Farms Ltd
Lake Oko Farms is located at No. 1, Lake Drive, Otuasega - Ogbia, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. We are known for the cultivation of Irvengia gabonensis locally known as African Bush Mango. The farm covers a total area of 68 hectares. The African bush mango is a commercially important food source especially its seed and it is also locally known for its many medicinal uses. It can be used to cure diabetes and it is also used for weight loss purposes. It's kernel (popularly known locally as Ogbono seeds in Nigeria) is used as a thickener in soups. In recent years, the Bush Mango has become scarce due to unregulated deforestation which exacerbates global warming and the ongoing climate change. The farm was cultivated to solve the prevailing scarcity problem of Irvengia gabonensis in Africa and also for medical research purposes.
