Women Farmers Advancement Network- WOFAN
Women Farmers Advancement Network (WOFAN) was established in June 1993 to improve the well being of disadvantaged women and rural communities to become self reliant and take decisions that advances their well being. currently WOFAN is working with about 42,000 women and youth farmers in 7 states of Nigeria. The groups are trained and mobilized into registered multipurpose cooperatives, CBOS, community service groups towards achieving a holistic development of its people. This extra effort is expected to bring additional complementary strengths and shared responsibilities to work toward common goals of the less privileged and the voiceless to make them scale up their enterprise skills and become managers of their own development.. Primary Activities WOFAN has several core activities it pursues in support of its mission statement, goal and objectives. These areas: a) Training its target groups across a wide range of matters, including: leadership development, Advocacy, business management, agriculture, value chain & food processing, b) improve, track and monitor family nutrition especially of under 5years old through food security attainment. c) sustainable environment & climate SMART adaptation startegies to reduce, recycle and replace agricultural wastes to improve and sustain intergrated agriculture, enhance use of technology & improve health awareness through education and extension services.
