The Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition is today announcing the launch of its new Foresight 2.0 report: Future Food Systems: For people, our planet, and prosperity. The report has been produced by an independent international team of leading experts, and makes concrete recommendations on the practical next steps which need to be taken to transform food systems so that they deliver sustainable, healthy diets to all. This critical publication calls for urgent action, by leaders and decision-makers across the world, for improved policies to change food systems and protect human and planetary health. Without renewed political will towards transforming food systems, we will miss the nutrition targets; vulnerable communities will be driven further into poverty; and environmental damage will become ever more costly. “Our food systems are fragile, are damaging our environment, and causing malnutrition, ill health and premature death,” says Global Panel Co-Chair and former President of Ghana, H.E John Kufuor. In commending this report to governments worldwide he adds: “The situation looks bleak, but the Global Panel believes that the situation can be reversed with renewed political will, sustained commitment, and leadership.” The full report is now freely available here: https://www.glopan.org/foresight2/ More information on the headline statistics and key messages is provided in the press release, which is ready to be shared (with images and captions) here: https://bit.ly/3cKzzcM
