TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY IN CASSAVA PRODUCTION AMONG FARMERS IN OYO STATE, NIGERIA: A GENDER SITUATION ANALYSES

This study focused on gender dynamics and technical efficiency (TE) analyses of cassava production among farmers in Oyo State, Nigeria. Primary data was collected through structured questionnaire administered to randomly selected 245 cassava farmers made up of 68 adult male (AM), 58 adult female (AF), 61 youth male (YM) and 58 youth female (YF). A stochastic frontier production function model was estimated. The results revealed that the coefficients of stem cutting, fertilizer, labour and herbicides were significant variables influencing cassava output among AM farmers. Stem cutting influenced cassava output of AF, YM and YF farmers with different coefficients at 1% level of probability.
