Why Clashes are on the Rise between Farmers and Herdsmen in the Sahel

The article focus on the clashes between farmers and nomadic herdsmen which date back to the pre-colonial era. Also on how hey reached an alarming level in 2017 when 1,000 people were killed in more than 50 clashes. This followed a rise in clashes since 2011 in Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Ivory Coast and Senegal. Overall the article focus on the dispute between these two types of works and how the dispute has, overtime, escalated at an alarming rate.
